The Arts & Sciences Office of Research Administration works with faculty and graduate students in departments of the College and Graduate Schools of Arts & Sciences to develop and submit research proposals for external sponsorship. This includes arts, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, astronomy, and related departments and centers. The Departments of biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, physics and psychology have grant administrators to directly assist faculty in grant preparation and process (see Research Administrators list). The Research Administration Office coordinates all Arts & Sciences grant applications and awards with the University's Office of Sponsored Programs which serves the entire University.
Monitor the usage of sponsored programs funds and help resolve issues with grant administration.
Proposal Forms and Materials
Basics
Contact the A&S Research Administrator, , regarding any impending proposal submissions and provide a link to the sponsor\'s Request for Proposal. Completed proposals must be received in the A&S Research Office a minimum of 3 days before the sponsor\'s deadline. For proposals submitted through grants.gov the minimum is 5 days.
Grants.gov - When submitting a proposal through Grants.gov, do not register individually. The University of Virginia is registered as the official entity with Grants.gov and for all faculty, staff and students, the University is the sole applicant for sponsored awards. Application packages may be accessed and started without regard to registration. Alert A&S Research Administrator of impending proposal submission.
U.S. Dept. of Education’s Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad- The U.Va. deadline will be mid-October 2008. Please contact Lynn Hedlund if you are applying; submission is electronic and hardcopy.
